The following charges, care, treatment, services, and/or situations are excluded from coverage:
- Pre-existing conditions
- Dental care or treatment
- Medical care by a person not considered a medical doctor
- Alternate medicine and treatment such as acupuncture, chiropractic (sekkotsu-in), etc.
- Pregnancy, childbirth, abortion and/or complications thereof
- Accidents, diseases, or death due to alcohol, medicine (without prescription) or illegal drugs
- Intentional injury, suicide or attempted suicide
- Accidents due to high-risk sports
- Medical care for substance abuse
- Congenital and hereditary diseases, symptoms, or any related conditions
- Pregnancy, childbirth, and/or complications relating thereof
- Medical check-ups
- HIV, SARS, or any other new epidemics
- Emotional disorders and any related brain disorders or therapy, etc.
- Organ transplant, sterility treatments, dialysis, cirrhosis of the liver, hepatitis, varicocele surgery
- Cancer, diabetes, kidney or gallstones, hyperlipidemia, high blood pressure, athlete's foot, ingrown toenails, any type of chronic illness, etc.
- Medical check-ups
- War, revolution, terrorism, demos, riots, etc.
- Plastic surgery, aesthetic surgery, hair transplants, etc., except if required due to an accident covered under this Plan
- Natural disasters, earthquake, storm, etc.
- Organ transplants, in whole or in part
- Treatment for mental health, HIV
- Nuclear radiation accidents
- Typhoons, rainstorms, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and other natural disasters
- Traffic accidents, industrial accidents, natural disasters, etc. Illness or accident claims covered by other insurance plans. For claims covered by other insurance plans, those other insurance plans shall take precedence. The Association will pay up to costs not covered by Japanese Health Insurance or Social Insurance Schemes up to a maximum of 30%, provided such illnesses or injuries are covered by this plan
